It's been nice this week 'getting back to normal' as I've had a lot to do so my mind is occupied with other things, so far this week I've been to the clinic for a follow up appointment, the hairdresser (always important to keep your hair looking good - in my case it's keeping red!), I've also been to see Guns N' Roses live and for a job interview in London, as well as a photo shoot and some other odds and ends.
The appointment at the clinic went well. It seems they are going to change the drugs I used last time to a new one (which is of course more bloody expensive!) and this also means I change the timeline of the treatment.
Last time it was 'the long protocol', which is based on starting the treatment on day 21 by down regging your cycle. The new one is 'the short protocol' which cuts out the down regging part and jumps straight to stimms!
This means I start the treatment on day 2 of my next cycle instead of day 21 which is a little earlier than planned - I've worked it out that we could be starting this on or around the 19th August! Excited or what???
In other news the Guns N' Roses gig was great. To give you a little background for those that don't know me well, I've been a Guns N' Roses fan since I was 14, a staggering 18 years!! I've seen them live several times in the past mostly around 1991 to 1993, I think I've now seen them 5 times live. It's a real shame that Axl Rose (lead singer) is the only one left in the band. I missed Slash's screaming guitar and awesome solos, the guitarists that are now in GNR are nothing compared to his signature sound. I don't know if I will bother to go and see them again, perhaps if the original members could ever bear being in the same room for more than 5 minutes I'd go to see them again for that.
The interview went well today. I must admit I'm not looking for a full time job, but I was Head hunted by a London recruitment agency to interview for a role with a big media company who are looking for an affiliate manager, so I thought I'd go along and check them out. As some of you will know I did this job with Amazon.co.uk for 5 years so my experience is what they are looking for.
The interview went well, they want me to go back next week to meet one of the other team members who is away on holiday. I mentioned to them though that I would prefer to take on this role as a consultant and do 3 days a week for them, they didn't seem too horrified at the idea so I guess I'll have to wait and see if I can pull this off. As I said I don't want a full time job, I need the time at home to deal with IVF and possibly being pregnant. If I go on a consultant basis, I will still have the freedom to do both. I will keep you posted.
I've also done a photo shoot, been offered some work doing photo editing for a jewelry company in London, and some work taking stills from DVD's to publish on the web. So things are looking up.
I know this has been a long post, but I guess not posting daily this week has left me with a lot to tell.
We are still sad about the last treatment, but somehow we have coped very well with the loss, and are now looking forward to the next one in August. So it's back to positive thoughts, pink knickers (for a girl), gallons of water, pointy sharp needles , raging hormones and feeling bloated 24/7....Bring it on.....
