Had an unsettled night - getting up at least three times in the night to pee. Alarm went off at 5.45am, so I didn't get much sleep overall. I woke up with nasty nasty pains in my lower abdomen and put this down to the fact that I was due for collection and was overly bloated.
Arrived at the hospital at 7am prompt, and was shown to my room, given a nasty pair of pants to wear (not sure why as they need access to down there!) and a traditional hospital gown (you know those sexy little numbers where your ass hangs out the back!!).
After various visits from the nurse, the anaethatist and finally the nice bloke who takes you down to theatre, I was wheeled down at 8am. Another nasty needle in the back of the hand, and a painful insertion of the anaesthetic (it hurt my wrist and arm as it was pushed in) I was finally knocked out!
8.30am, I wake up in the recovery room, all done. Feely groggy and half asleep I was wheeled back upstairs to my room where Chris was sat waiting for me. He was called down to do his bit not long after, and was gone for about 10 mins ;)
We waited for an hour or so and the embryologist finally came up to say they had collected 5 eggs. I must say that I was disappointed with this as I had expected to get between 10-15, so I asked why and they basically said that it looks like my ovaries had started ovulation early and some of the eggs may have dissolved into my body. We were allowed to go just after 12 when we were told that we should expect a call tomorrow morning to find out how many of the eggs have fertilised.
When I got home I went to bed, and have been feeling crappy ever since. I'm suffering with pains in my lower abdomen and also nasty pains up my right side and under my ribs. I'm hoping I feel better tomorrow. I will update you and let you know.
