New day - New drugs!

I didn't post last night, didn't get around to it. Not much to tell anyway! Today was a good day, scans and acupuncture!

We started the day with an acupuncture session for me. I've never done this before so I was a little nervous, but it was easy! She put one needle in the top of my head, one in each hand and one in each foot. I had 10 minutes with this as an introduction, and I hardly felt a thing. (these needles are a doddle compared to injecting every day!). After the acupuncture we went to Starbucks for a decaf latte while we waited for the next appointment - the scan!

The scan was also easy - I've had several internal scans before. The girls on the fertility board call it the dildo cam - quite right too! lol. It's basically a dildo shaped wand thing with a camera on the end - a bit like the scanners they use on a pregnant tummy, but for internal use instead! The icky part is the lube - they use way too much!!!!

They took a measurement of my womb lining today as a baseline to work from. Mine came in at 2.5mm, this is great as it needs to be less than 5mm!

I was also given my next set of drugs - the stimming drugs:) These are called Menopur and I have to take 3 ampules a day. These drugs cost us a whopping £450, to be taken for the next week! The drugs are in powder form - 1 amp per bottle. This means I have to mix them up with the water I get given! Quite complicated.....

First I take the syringe and put the BIG needle on it. I have to break the top off the little water bottle and suck up all the water into the syringe. Then push the needle into the first amp of menopur (its another little bottle) and push out all the water so it mixes with the powder - then suck the mixed liquid back up - repeat 2 more times to get all 3 amps mixed.

Once all 3 amps are mixed up and back in the syringe I get to change the needle to a smaller one (phew!) and I can inject the mixture into my tummy again.

From tomorrow I will be doing 2 injections per day as I have to also continue with the Buserelin, although I will be reducing the dosage from 0.5ml to 0.2ml. This ensures that I don't ovulate until they are ready to take the eggs.

I will take a picture so you can see the scary needle!
