Did we test too early?

I'm a user of a forum on the Internet called Fertility Friends (see side links) - it is a great place to hang out for people who are going through IVF treatment as it's a great support network of (mostly) women who are going through the same treatment.

I've read on this forum that many women test 2 days early, so as I've had all the right signs so far I thought I would too. Sadly we got a negative result this morning.

Now, I'm not sure if this is because we tested too early and the Hcg levels aren't high enough yet to show a result, or if we just aren't pregnant and the IVF hasn't worked for me. To make things worse a lady who is at the same clinic as me and who is having her treatment at the exact same dates also tested this morning, she got a very strong positive.

I'm not giving up hope just yet. I still haven't had my period, which is a good sign and I also read many posts today from women who also tested early and got a negative only to get a positive on the official test day.

Reasons for it being a negative today:

1. We only had one embryo put back which is a reason for it not being strong enough yet.

2. We are 2 days early and everyone is different

3. The pregnancy test was crap (clearblue digital so it should be ok)

4. My wee was not strong enough - even though I did it first thing in the morning, I am still getting up in the night to pee due to the amount of water I'm drinking every day, this is diluting my wee!

So the result of this means that I've had a bit of a crappy day, I've not been in tears as such (which surprises me) but I do feel numb. Now I'm in limbo and I'm not on the good side of knowing. I'm beginning to wish that my impatience hadn't got the better of me and forced me to test this morning!

I have 2 tests left - the other clearblue digital and the one the clinic gave me (which I will use on Friday), I will probably use the other clearblue test tomorrow. Let's hope it works. I'm not giving up hope until I either get a positive or I get my period!
