Pain pain go away.....

Another uncomfortable night, this is becoming far too regular an occurrence (every night now!). I'm not complaining though as it's a joy to be this far along knowing that our babies could be here in three weeks or less, but I can't say I'm enjoying this last part too much!

During the day it's not so bad (which I'm very pleased about!) I just seem to suffer with the swollen feet and fingers which has brought a new lease of pain, but thankfully the groin pain and some of the other 'night pains' do seem to ease or go away while I'm up and about.

Night times though are now nothing short of miserable. I look forward to going to bed - which I'm doing around 9.30pm most nights now, as I'm so tired from poor sleep that I can't wait to snuggle into my huge pregnancy pillow on my tempur matress and try to get 'some' sleep.

My husband is wonderful, he has been giving me a nice relaxing back rub that helps me get to sleep - and the first 2 hours of sleep are usually bliss. But then I wake up and the misery begins.

I seem to wake up at mightnight - like clockwork, Chris is usually still awake watching TV or playing on his xBox which he brought upstairs (PS3 is downstairs!) recently.

First I have to try and sit up - the groin pain kicks in and makes me feel like someone has grabbed my feet and pulled my legs as far apart as they can, then kicked me in the lady bits!

Once I get sat up, I feel the back ache and the arm/fingers aching. Now I have to actually stand, which results in some swearing and stilted movements as everything hurts so much!

Next the funny waddle/stagger/shuffle across the bedroom to the bathroom, holding onto anything or using crutches if it's too bad to finally have a wee which is hardly worth getting out of bed for - waddle/stagger/shuffle back to bed and then try to get comfortable with the pregnancy pillow.

By this point I usually have a Braxton Hicks contraction, which causes a lot of pressure on all of my insides, one of the babies (righty I think) up in my ribs kicking her little feet away and a low lying pain across my abdomen.

Finally I get comfortable (it takes 6 mini shuffles to get myself turned over in bed!) and hopefully I will fall asleep again for about an hour (2 if I'm really lucky!!) before I repeat this process all over again.

The last week I've been waking up with really nasty pains in my arms, worse in my left that I think/thought might be carpel tunnel but I will get this checked out tomorrow at the consultants.

My fingers feel like they have arthritis or something, and my feet tingle most of the time from the swelling.

Aside from all this - I am LOVING being pregnant - but can't wait to get these little ones out so I can feel like me again!

Three weeks today - just 21 days and I hope this will all be a distant memory :)

Hey, Elly. I was diagnosed with pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome around 4 months along. My doctor gave me splints to wear. The pain & tingling in my hands would wake me up & is so bad now that even splints aren't helping.
My worst pain is in my muscles in the area of my upper uterus. It's like someone is ripping them from me. Sneezing, coughing, bending, standing...just about anything sets off that sharp pain. Have you experienced that?
I'm so happy for you! We're getting so close!

I think the poor sleep during last part of pregnancy is to prepare you for the lack of sleep afterwards.

Congratulation at getting this far!
